Virtually all of the music featured at A Tribute to Bix Fest was originally intended to be DANCE MUSIC. What would the JAZZ AGE and SWING ERA have been without the Charleston, Lindy Hop, Black Bottom, and countless others?
New for 2027, we are pleased to announce the addition of dance class offerings to Fest attendees! Fest founder Phil Pospychala was always especially interested in attracting dancers to his event back in the day, so we are excited to be able to bring this dream to fruition!

INSTRUCTOR JEN BARNETT
We are thrilled to welcome Jen Barnett to A Tribute to Bix Fest, all of the way from New York City! Dancing and teaching for more than 20 years, Jen is a fixture of the worldwide Balboa dance scene and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us on the dance floors.
DANCE CLASSES
Dance lessons at A Tribute to Bix Fest 2027 are primarily centered around Balboa, which originated in the packed ballrooms of 1930s California. This compact dance is stylish, easy to learn and well-suited to the music of the 1920s and ‘30s that is often featured at this event. See our Schedule page for exact times for each class, but for a brief overview:
Stay tuned for class details!
